Tested and tried.  That's the only way to describe this event.  As many of you know I am a strong advocate for the protection of the environment and the abolition of all cruelty to animals.  So here's the story.  I was recently approached to mass export our line Natural Beauty Skincare®  to China.  The company that approached me was already selling our products thru a canadian based website which legally side-steps the ridiculous Chinese Government law of 'all imported skincare' must be tested on animals. Its archaic, I know.   Anyways, because they had a 100% repurchase on our products in 2016/2017 they were seriously interested in capitalizing on this success.  What I'm saying is 100% of all the mainland chinese people who purchased our product, purchased it again and again.  Super!  Right!

So when they first approached me, I thought to myself....wow, this is gonna be big!  Then they dropped the bomb.  That's right... I had no idea.  All skincare products that enter China mainland must be tested on animals.   I could feel the blood rising into my face.  I was so upset, that without even saying a word the representative quickly commented, "I told them you wouldn't go for it".  She then suggested that I wouldn't have to be the one who did the testing but rather they, as a third party would do the testing....   My first thought was...Seriously?  Of course I said NO.

NO Thanks, millions of dollars still will not deceive me.

Tough day at the shop!

I can't lie, since that day, I HAVE thought about how much money I lost in refusing that deal.  But....when I lay my head down at night, or when I look my fur baby (Sparki) in the eyes, and when I wake up and look in the mirror, I know I did the right thing.

So, the lesson here is:  when you think a company is cruelty-free, you cannot be certain, you need to check.
